Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) organized an event to celebrate the international women Day in Collaboration with GIZ Pakistan FATA program.
The event organized to observe international women day to recognize and honor the outstanding contribution of women in every field of life, attended by different segments of the society including the Government officials, politician’s, journalist, CSOs and academia.
Dr. Riffat Sardar Chairperson KPCSW formally welcomed all the respected Guests of the seminar and highlighted the back ground and objective of this day. She said that International Women Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
International Women Day has occurred for well over a century with the first gathering of women held in 1911 she added.
The Chief Guest, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif special Assistant for information to CM KP said that women could not be empowered in the true sense unless and until we have to change our conscious and social attitudes.
To empower women in our society, we have to adopt Islamic values and avoid traditional norms, which we are following today.
Ms. Shaheen Attiq Ur Rehman, said that Girls must have the opportunity to complete all levels of education acquiring the knowledge and skills to compete in the labor market.
learn the socio-emotional and life skills necessary to navigate and adapt to a changing world; make decisions about their own lives, and contribute to their communities and the country.”
Ms. Rahela Durrani, Ex-Speaker Baluchistan Assembly, expressed that the women must be in the decision making position, which is only possible, when they are politicians. There must be feedbacks, but they should change the feedback into the results, she added
Ms. Aisha Khan said that we have to observe this day every day and should not be limited to International women Day to celebrate a single day annually.
Ms. Taqaddus Gillani, said that simplicity, change in attitudes, thinking for others, fight for Humanity and change of mind set are the keys to success towards women empowerment.
Ms.Simi kamal stressed the need for women participation, so that they could give their input for better management.
Ms. Rubab Mehdi said that financial independence is key to women empowerment.
Ms. Stitch Acting country director GIZ said” that As women get equality, human rights become a powerful value of societies, as women in governance tend to fight for underprivileged groups.
The Girls students presented various role plays during the event on “Girls education”.
