MARDAN: Vice chancellor Women University, Prof Dr. Ghazla Yasmeen on Wednesday said that Women University is a unique institution of its kind which has been established to promote literacy among females, particularly those who do not get the opportunity to go farther from the walled security of their homes. Ghazla Yasmeen said that they have been conditioned to assume the responsibility of their households and play the roles prefigured for them befittingly. She added that in order to keep pace with the ever growing literacy rate in developed countries, we need to extend the scope of education by offering it to females in rural or peripheral areas and provide them the environment in which they can feel at home. She argued that a sapling becomes a tree once it is nurtured with care and devotion. She added that she felt honoured to be the first vice chancellor of the university as it fell to my lot to sow the seed and water it through untiring labor and the toil of night and day.
