PESHAWAR
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) and FAST National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences, Peshawar campus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote academia-industries collaboration as well as tourism.
The Director General, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) Muhammad Abid Khan Wazir highlighted that the purpose of MoU would prove to be a milestone in the development and prosperity of both academia and industry.
He said advanced technologies have been gaining momentum in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries in recent years.
Through collaborative interaction, new knowledge can be generated and quickly transformed into industry technical capability and university scientific research and talent training advantages. This will help to flourish knowledge base economy and create societal impact, thus creating more local jobs.
He further added that the present Government of Pakistan as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a special focus on tourism and initiated various steps to attract domestic and foreign tourists and to develop the socio-economic condition of the people.
The Government is committed to establishing liaisons between academia and industry to reduce the gap, exposure to new talent and increase employment opportunities.
Dr. Omar Usman, Director FAST Peshawar campus informed about the concept and benefits of e-Tourism and committed to provide products and solutions with a focus on tourism, hospitality, and culture.
