Study of science, technology imperative for joining developed nations: Karim

Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Industry and Commerce Abdul Karim while addressing the 6th International conference on earth sciences organized by Center of Excellence in Geology, University of Peshawar, said that science explorations were mandatory for the provincial development and prosperity. “In order to explore the underground hidden treasures of the province through knowledge of science and technology, our province and the country can be developed economically,” he added.
The conference was attended by national and international experts, students and industrialists. The theme of the conference was to meet the challenges and get maximum knowledge about Earth Sciences and share information and experiences with each other in the field of earth sciences .
Experts in the conference shed light on structural geology , petroleum geosciences, climate change and other fields in detail.
Special assistant to CM Abdul Karim said that it was high time to utilize the hidden treasury of the province in order to provide employment opportunities to the youth along with economic development in the province, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rich in mineral wealth. He said we could explore it by utilizing modern technology, in this regard the provincial government will provide all kinds of support for the development of science and technology in the province.
Mr Karim said that without acquiring modern technology Pakistan could not compete with economically strong nations.
The Special Assistant said that there was a need for modern research in this field to inform future generations about the challenges. Later on, the Special Assistant distributed shields among the participants.
