CCPO directs comprehensive security plan for Muharram days

The Capital City Police high-ups on Tuesday discussed a comprehensive security plan for Muharram, said a handout.
Chief Traffic Officer, SSP Operations, SP Cantt, SP Rural, SP Headquarters and other police officers attended the meeting.
The CCPO directed quarter concerns to provide foolproof security to all imambargahs, mosques, processions, congregations as well as all sensitive places and government buildings in the city.
Muhammad Ijaz Khan said that police personnel would be tasked with ensuring the security of mourners and participants of Muharram processions.
He said extra forces would be deployed on the exit of and entrance to Peshawar for vigilance.
In order to keep watch on all activities, police in plain clothes would also perform duties in specific areas including bus stands, hotels, colleges, hostels, tenants, Afghan refugees, he added. Police personnel were instructed to wear helmets and jackets and to keep a close watch on suspicious persons and all entrances to the city.
CCPO said in the meeting that people of Peshawar respect each other’s religion and believe in peace.
All available resources would be utilized to keep the peace of the provincial capital maintained during Muharram, he added.
