FAISALABAD: Citizens on Monday took to streets in Faisalabad to protest against highly costly electricity, Online reported. Protestors, irked with hiked electricity bills, torn their electricity bills into pieces and set them on fire. The protestors told Online that increased taxes were equivalent to the ‘Jagga tax’, adding that 200 percent extra money were charged from them as compared to the original electricity prices. They demanded government to immediately withdraw ‘brutal’ taxes, as the per unit prices have been increased by historic 50 rupees. A consumer told Online that his electricity bill for the previous month was 50000 rupees, while he had consumed only 1003 electricity units. “The original price of my electricity bill is 25000 while they have imposed taxes of 25000 rupees on me,” he said.
