PESHAWAR
Surprisingly all sports activities of the Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would now be run and organized by a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) – Young Leaders Forum (YLF).
The MoU was signed between the Young Leaders Forum (YLF) headed by Sajid Afridi and Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khalid Khan. Assistant Director Account Amjad Iqbal, Deputy Director Sports Operations Jamshed Baloch, Administrator Peshawar Sports Complex Syed Jafar Shah and other officials were present on the occasion of signing.
It is worth mentioning here that there is a Director Operation – Aziz Ullah Jan, who is serving the Directorate from more than 35 years, Deputy Director Operation – Jamshed Baloch, more than two dozen handsome force of District Sports Officers, Assistant District Sports Officers, more than four dozens 50 coaches of various games and other working personals who held thousands of sporting activities over the years and having much experience of holding various sports activities but despite all facts, the Director General Sports Khalid Khan Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NGO Young Leaders Forum (YLF). Now the Young Leaders Forum would hold the forthcoming Inter-University Games to be commencing from October 19, 2022.
When contacted, to know his views about the agreement, DG Sports Khalid Khan said that sports competitions will be organized in the best way under this agreement. There will be full cooperation and will try to make these competitions ideal, he said. He expressed the hope that both teams will make these competitions successful together.
He said for ensuring transparency, we have made such agreement with YLF and another group to hold all our activities including newly inducted activities comprising Inter-School, Inter-College, Inter-University, Games at UCs, Tehsil, Districts Games, Inter-Madrasa Games, Games of Person with Different Abilities etc.
It is important to mention here that the same management form had earlier benefited from one way or the other because of good relations with the officials of the Directorate General Sports. Recently, the same form had been involved in Bin-e-Hawa Awards, Games or Orphanage at Zamung Kor, besides dozens of other events in various districts.
DG Sports Khalid Khan said that earlier there were many complaints that the officials of the Directorate General have been involved in issuing of fake TA, DA, provision of sports gears, showing fake number of players and persons participating in different bidders. Khalid Khan said that there were also reports that our officials were involved in the embezzlement of funds in transportations, banners, purchasing of sports equipment, accommodations etc. so to stop such practice, it was decided to give our events through bids to these management groups.
Khalid Khan said that they have invited the bidders through tenders by fulfilling KPPRA rules and six bidders have expressed their willingness to bid to hold and manage our sports activities so the Young Leaders Forum won the bid and we have signed a MoU with them for holding sports activities while another MoU was signed with another forum that would look after accommodations and transportations
