An important meeting held here on Wednesday with the provincial minister for Labor and human rights Shaukat Yousafzai in the chair, discussed a comprehensive plan about enrollment drive in public sector technical colleges and scholarship programs for deserving students.
The meeting was attended by the principals of all technical colleges of the Workers Welfare Board (WWB), director education Dr Amjad Khan and other relevant officials of the department concerned.
The forum was briefed about the challenges being faced by the government technical colleges and other affiliated institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting was informed that the provincial government has closed 18 technical institutes and 11 colleges in the province due to some problems. However, the provincial minister for labor and human rights Shaukat Yousifzai opposed the decision in the provincial cabinet and insisted on a comprehensive policy intervention to make these institutes self-sufficient.
While giving a briefing, the authorities said that provision of sufficient funds was necessary to initiate repairing and maintenance works in different technical colleges of the province. B-Tech, Mono-Tech and Polytechnic Institute need more funds to provide this service and can show better efficiency in delivery. Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai directed concerned officials that efforts should be made to maximize the enrolment in the technical colleges and other affiliated technical education institutes.
