Police foiled smuggling bid in Hayatabad

Hayatabad Police seized a large cache of unlicensed weapons and arrested two persons during an important operation on Monday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Muhammad Azhar Khan told reporters that Hayatabad police during an important opderation foiled an attempt to smuggle unlicensed weapons and ammunition.
He said that the arrested persons have smuggled weapons from tribal district Khyber to Peshawar and they were trying to smuggle them to other parts of the province but were busted by the police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Muhammad Zaheen and Muhammad Ahmed residents of Peshawar and Nowshera district. Police during the operation have recovered 11 Kalashnikovs, 22 pistols and 3000 different bore cartridges from the accused.
A vehicle used in arms smuggling has also been seized by the police.
The operation was conducted by ASP Hayatabad Dr Muhammad Umar, SHO Taimur Saleem along with other police teams.
Police investigation said that the recovered arms and ammunition were likely to be used in terrorism and various crimes.
Muhammad Azhar Khan has said that in order to maintain the law and order situation, special snap checking and search operations have been launched in the circle.
