Availability of free books in govt-run schools ordered

An important meeting held here on Thursday with caretaker advisor to Chief Minister on elementary and secondary education department Rehmat Salam Khattak in the chair, reviewed timely availability of quality and free books to all students for the ongoing academic session in the province.
Chairman Textbook Board Syed Farrukh Saqlain, Barkatullah Khan Special Secretary education department, Additional Secretary Abdul Akram, Deputy Secretary Budget and officers of Finance Department attended the meeting.
Chairman Textbook Board informed the forum regarding the problems being faced by the board in printing books for the academic session.
The Caretaker Education Adviser directed the officers of the Finance Department to solve the financial problems of the Textbook Board on priority basis and to complete all the releases on time so that the printing of the books can be completed on time.
The quarters concerned should adopt a result-oriented strategy to ensure timely provision of free textbooks to students of the government schools, Khattak added.
The printing and their availability in government –run schools will be completed before the academic session of this year starting from April 10, 2023, Mr Khattak said.
Rehmat Salam Khattak said that there should be no change in the educational curriculum for at least three years so that the education department can reduce the cost of printing books every year.
