CS-KP launches e-procurement system to ensure transparency in govt affairs

Says it will bring transparency in awarding govt contracts and procurement process in KP
PESHAWAR
Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Imdadullah Bosal launched the first ever Khyber Pakhtunkhwa e-procurement system (KPePS) on pilot basis, in a ceremony held here on Monday. Administrative secretaries, US Consul General Peshawar, Mission Head USAID, Managing Director KP Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA), MD IT Board and other relevant officials attended the event.
E-procurement system is being introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by KPPRA, in collaboration with USAID.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary said that the e-procurement system will usher in a new era of transparency, quality, efficiency and accountability in government procurement and contract awarding processes.
MD KPPRA briefed the forum about salient features of the system saying that flaws in the existing system have been rectified which would ensure transparency and data security, besides fulfilling many long-standing demands of the contractor community.
MD KPPRA acknowledged support of government departments and the contractor community in developing the e-procurement system.
The Chief Secretary appreciated the technical and financial support of KPPRA, USAID, and Pakistan Capacity Development Services for the said system and hoped that they would also continue to extend cooperation in future.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary presided over a meeting of the provincial census coordination committee to review progress made on the ongoing seventh housing and population census.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of better coordination among stakeholders to ensure successful execution of the enumeration process. The meeting was apprised that for facilitation of public closing date for self-enumeration was extended till March 10, 2023.
