Faiq calls for building up a broad-based consensus on national polls

PESHAWAR: Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah called for the building of a broad-based consensus and creating a ‘favorable’ environment for elections in the country. Shah while talking to different delegations here at the party’s central office on Saturday urged the institutions to play a role in the election. Our Correspondent

Furthermore, he asked to take all the stakeholders on board and build consensus on national polls.

The ATP chairman warned the growing confrontation and political standoff would bring further destruction in the country.

He asked political leaders to set aside differences and work together to bring political and economic stability.

Faiq said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and other relevant institutions should initiate measures for conduct of elections in a peaceful, transparent and fair manner in the country.

At the same time, he said the apprehensions raised by relevant institutions should be addressed accordingly before the conduct of the electoral exercise.

The party chief criticized the government over the hike in power tariff Rs.82 per unit on demand of IMF.

He said the life of the common man had been made miserable owing to anti-masses policies.

He said the coalition government has failed to provide any relief to inflation-stricken people.

Faiq noted a disarray is seen among ranks of the present 11-parties unity government.

So, he questioned: “How the incumbent coalition government can take measures for public welfare in the prevailing circumstances”,

The ATP chairman said the politicians are using various tactics to down their political rivals.

He condemned that the role of institutions had been made controversial for personal gains.

Faiq continued to say that the flawed policies of the incumbent ruling coalition government were behind the current political and economic chaos.

He expressed fear that people will be forced to upraise if the government didn’t take serious steps to arrest the inflation and economic slide on emergent grounds.
