Workshop on RTI Act held

Right to Information Act 2013 provides information to the people about their resources to curb corruption.
This was stated by Sayed Saadat Jahan, Assistant Director Communication, KP RTI Commission while imparting training on RTI Act to the participants of workshop “Stakeholders’ Training on KP RTI Act, 2013” with theme ‘Citizen for Good Governance’ arranged by Individual lands here at a local hotel in Peshawar, said a hand out issued here on Saturday.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was privileged to have enacted this law before all the other provinces. He added that implementation of the Right to Information Act gives every citizen the right to information to make a transparent government and administration more responsible which means good governance.
The main purpose of the Right to Information Act is to provide information to citizens, to curb corruption and to promote accountability in the work of every public authority.
He said that good governance means that processes and institutions produce results that make the best use of resources while meeting the needs of the society. Until 2013, access to information of public interest was not easy for an ordinary person. The implementation of the RTI Act has improved the system of public service delivery.
Elected representatives of Local Government, social workers, students, members of Christian and transgender community participated in the said workshop.
