World consumers protection day was observed in Jamrud on Wednesday aimed to raise global awareness about consumers’ right and needs.
Every year on March 15 the consumer movement celebrates World Consumers Rights Day(WCRO), raising global awareness of consumer rights,consumer protection and empowerment.
In this connection a walk was organized by Assistant director industries and consumers that was led by Assistant Commissioner,Jamrud Irfan Usman, while Assistant Director Industries and Commerce, Khyber Arafat Afridi Tehsil Chairman Said Nawab, tribal elders,traders,representatives of law departments including District Food Controller, Tehsil Municipal Officer, Civil Defense were among the participants. The partakers highlighted the importance of the day and said the rights of the consumers had been protected in the country through the consumer Act 1997.
The day was an opportunity to promote basic rights of all consumers; they added and said it also provided people a chance to protest against the market abuses and social injustices.
Later on banners were fixed at the offices of AC and City Mayor to inform the people of their rights being consumer guaranteed by the law.
