Smuggling bid foiled, 118kg drugs seized

Chamkani Police on Monday foiled a bid to smuggle a huge cache of drugs during an operation.
Chamkani Police Station SHO Iftikhar Ahmed told reporters that during a special operation more than 118kg drugs were recovered from a car.
He said that suspects, who were managed to escaped, were supplying drugs to other cities of the country.
The suspects took advantage of the darkness of the night and left the vehicle and escaped, SHO said.
Police have recovered 64 kg of hashish and 54 kg of opium from the vehicle after conducting a search, the motor car used in drug smuggling was also taken into police custody.
Police have registered a case and formed a special team under the supervision of SP Rural Zafar Ahmed Khan, consisting of DSP Zahid Alam Khan and SHO Iftikhar Ahmed, to arrest the drug network.
