District Police Officer (DPO), Khyber has said media plays a role of bridge between government departments and the people and no one can deny the positive role of media in the progress of the country.
All facilities will be provided to the local police officials to enhance their efficiency while executing their official duties.
He praised the police officials for their affirmative performance and said they have rendered matchless sacrifices to maintain peace in the area.
The views were expressed by the DPO Saleem Abbas Kulachi while talking to media persons on his visit to Landi Kotal press club here on Thursday.
He added that necessary and useful training sessions have been planned to technically equip the local police.
As compared to other tehsils of Khyber, peace was maintained in Landi Kotal, however police patrolling was increased on Pak-Afghan highway and other link roads, he remarked.
One cannot ignore punishment and reward practice in police development, he added and said preference is given to post local police officials in their own areas but non-locals will also be deployed as per need.
The district police official further said that all postings were conducted on merit basis and talented local police officials were posted in the investigation wing.
Efforts were made to impart knowledge of modern policing to the educated youth to enroll them in various sections of police, DPO remarked.
He was accompanied by Station House Officer (SHO)Ishrat Ali,Public Relation Officer,district police Zaheer Afridi appreciated the role of the journalist community in development and retaining of peace in Landi Kotal and urged them to continue their positive role.
He also offered prayers for the departed souls of the deceased Khyber media persons.
Prior to it, President landi Kotal press club Khalil Jibran welcomed him.
