10,000 direct jobs to be created by Provision of Gas to the Industries in Peshawar: Jhagra

PESHAWAR : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Jhagra has said that as many as 10,000 new jobs will be created by provision of gas to industrial estate, Hayatabad.
This, he said while presiding over a meeting regarding provision of gas supply to industrial estate. The meeting was attended by Secretary Finance Shakeel Qadir, General Manager Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines (SNGPL) Saqib Arbab, president Industrial Estate Association (IEA) Peshawar Zarak Khattak and other concerned officials.
The Finance Minister said that the process of installation of gas pipeline for industrial estate, a project worth Rs.180 Million would be completed by the end of January 2019. To facilitate private sector for creating employment opportunities, he said, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had already approved the project as part of PTI’s 100 Days Agenda.
On the occasion, Zarak Khattak, President IEA Peshawar thanked Minister Finance for fulfilling his promise to cater the needs of Industries to create employment opportunities and support economic development in the province. He said that gas supply to industrial estate had been neglected for long time but current government had included provision of gas to industries under 100 Days Agenda.
He apprised Minister Finance that there were 22 Industries which would provide employment opportunities to over 10,000 skilled labourers. He further informed that the association would also contribute to the society by facilitating Rescue 1122 in the Industrial Estate, and would plant sapling worth Rs.2 million outside Industrial estate while sapling worth Rs.1 million inside Industrial Estate.
Minister Finance directed the SNGPL authorities to ensure timely and early completion of pipes installation. He also directed the IEA to work out comprehensive strategy to better utilize the 100 mmcfd gas supply. Provincial Government was committed to provide employment opportunities to the unemployed and would take all-out steps to facilitate and support local industry to boost the economic development of the province, he concluded.
