Former federal minister Faisal Vawda on Wednesday claimed that former DG ISI Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Retired Faiz Hameed was the “architect” and the “mastermind” in the National Crime Agency £190m case Imran Khan was currently facing.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader was speaking to the media after he appeared before NAB in NCA £190m corruption case. Talking to the media, Vawda said that former accountability advisor Shahzad Akbar, Zulfi Bukhari and other leaders were being named in this case but the biggest “beneficiary” is Faiz Hameed.
“My compulsion today was to tell the nation that when you say the beneficiary is Imran, […] the biggest is Faiz Hameed.” Faisal Vawda further said that this was a “very small case” and that bigger crimes would be uncovered when things were further probed.
Vawda also assailed President Arif Alvi for playing a “huge role in these misunderstandings”. Responding to a query if the President House had a role in PTI members leaving the party, Vawda said, “What the president has done, I don’t think even an enemy could do.
A huge role in these misunderstandings is of the President House and President Arif Alvi sahib.” “I had warned Imran Khan before about “snakes” in his party, who would be holding press conferences soon, condemning the May 9 violence,” Faisal Vawda added.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched an investigation against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi and others for the alleged gain of hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al Qadir University Trust, which reportedly caused a loss of 190 million pounds to the national exchequer.
As per the charges, the Khan and others accused allegedly adjusted Rs50 billion — 190 million pounds at the time — sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government. Former PM Imran Khan had registered Trust for Al-Qadir University Project on Dec 26, 2019.
