Interior minister inaugurates E-passport facility for citizens of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, June 10 : Interior minister Rana Sana Ullah has inaugurated Passport Processing Counters (PPC’s), online renewal of passport in the country and E-passport facility for Islamabad.

He said this all has become possible due to collaboration between Directorate General of Immigration and Passport (DGI and P) and National Data Base Registration Authority (NARDA).

He went on to say such steps will lead to remarkable decrease in passport fraud . This will solidify trust on our passport system.

He indicated that e-passport facility was limited to official and diplomatic passport so far and it is being extended to citizens of Islamabad. Gradually this facility will be provided to people all over the country.

Through online passport system the citizens will be able to get renew online passport without visiting passport office all over the country. Through web portal the citizens will be able to upload the respective documents besides filing their applications.
He announced 30 passport processing counters will be set up in different areas.

The members of parliament will inaugurate these passport processing counters in their respective constituencies, he added.
