Approximately 650 Metric Ton (MT) Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) imported from Central Asian States (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia) reached in Torkham on Wednesday.
It is to be mentioned here that two importers, Epic Energy Pvt Ltd and Tatara Energy Ltd are currently importing LPG from the Central Asian countries
The custom official in import terminal in Torkham said that the imported LPG, loaded in 21 tankers were under clearing process in the custom office, Torkham. According to Custom office, as per agreement Tatara Energy Pvt Ltd will import 65000 MT LPG from Russia and currently 11 tankers of the company have reached the border and 30 more vehicles are reportedly on way to Pakistan.
Presently 10 vehicles of Epic Energy Ltd, loaded with LPG have reached in Torkham and five more are reportedly on way to the crossing.
Local traders declared import of LPG from Central Asian as good omen for the business and said it not only over come energy crises in the country but will enhance trade activities in the country.
Gulab Shinwari,a local businessman said that imposition of restrictions had suffered trade and only twenty percent business remained at the Torkham border, therefore such kind of economic doings would certainly increase business acts and would provide trade opportunities to the locals at the border.
