Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah said timely elections would bring political and economic stability in the country.
Giving a response to various queries of people during an online public forum “Open Kachhery’ here on Tuesday, Shah said holding of elections as per schedule is essential, which is also in the best interest of the country.
The ATP chairman said persistent deadlock over holding elections would further push the country toward instability.
He urged political parties to frame a joint mechanism and roadmap to pave the way for elections.
Faiq while replying to a question regarding performance of the incumbent government, saying that rulers have left no stone unturned to elevate miseries of the poor masses.
He said rulers have busied themselves to tug of war for gaining power by putting public issues into the backburner.
Stagnation prevailed in every nook and corner of the country, the ATP chief noted.
To a question about rising food inflation, Shah said price-hike have broken all records while it has been made hard to earn livelihoods for people.
He asked the rulers to take practical measures to overcome the rising inflation.
He furthermore emphasized that economic indigence should be removed by creating employment opportunities.
The ATP chief said unemployment has increased manifold while people have compelled on starvation and suicide.
No pragmatic steps were taken to put the country’s fragile economy on the right track, he added.
He continued to say that the government’s cosmetic measures couldn’t arrest the economic slide and the rising inflation.
He said the country is heading toward a default situation as the former governor State Bank of Pakistan has given indication in this regard.
The USD maintains its hegemony over the Pakistani rupee in interbank, he added.
Furthermore, he maintained rulers’ flawed policies had brought destruction to every sector.
Every segment of the society, including businessmen, industrialists, small traders, working class and daily wagers were highly upset under the prevailing circumstances, he added.
