Over 500 held in intelligence-based operations in Peshawar

In an effort to maintain law and order situation in the provincial metropolis,Capital City Police during the last three weeks conducted several human intelligence based operations against the anti-social elements and arrested 503 suspects and registered over 488 cases, said a handout.
Police during the crackdown on criminals in Peshawar in same period of time have also seized huge quantity of illegal arms from the criminals including a total of 28 Kalashnikovs, 587 pistols, 12 shotguns, 40 rifles, one gun and more than 26,000 cartridges of different bores.  
Similarly,during an important and successful intelligence operation, Peshawar police thwarted a major terrorist plan in the area of Shamshatu area of Urmar police station and defused 32 anti-personnel mines and 6 kg of explosives. 
In order to ensure peace in the city and arrest those involved in anti-social activities,coordination with other important institutions and units has also been established by Peshawar Police.
Joint operations including information sharing are also being carried out, along with other important measures, information-based search and strike operations, snap checking and blockades are also ongoing on a daily basis, so that the elements involved in anti-social activities can achieve their nefarious purposes.
SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed Khan has expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing crackdown and issued instructions to quarter concerned to intensify and continue indiscriminate operations against elements involved in crimes including arms smugglers, aerial firing, weapons display.
He has said that all available resources would be utilized to maintain law and order situation in Peshawar and operations against criminals would be continued.
