Police say two cops embraced martyrdom, 9 injured in the attack

Leading political figures from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday strongly condemned suicide attack near tehsil compound in the tribal Khyber district. They condoled the deaths and prayed for the departed souls and asked the provincial government to provide the best medical treatment to those injured, saying the security forces’ sacrifices will be remembered and terrorists will be crushed.
In a statement, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) provincial president and State Minister Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha has expressed his deepest condolences and condemned the suicide bombing incident in the district in strong words.
He hoped that the provincial government and police department would leave no stone unturned to provide the best medical treatment to the injured and maintain lasting peace in the area.
Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Aimal Wali Khan has also condemned the incident and asked the provincial government to take pragmatic steps in establishing peace in the province. Amil Wali Khan has said that terrorist outfits will not be allowed to target police and other law enforcement agencies officials and demand action against those involved in the resettlement of terrorists in the province.
The provincial president has condemned and said that those who attacked the compound are enemies of the country and province. Condemning the attack on compound in Bara tehsil of Khyber, the Jamat Islami (JI) ameer Sirjul Haq, Qaumi WatanParty (QWP) chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and others senior politicians have expressed grief over the incident and demanded the government to ensure safety of people and increase security of the government buildings.
They have prayed for the elevation of ranks in paradise and sympathized with the bereaved family. According to police, two police officers were martyred while none others, including seven cops, sustained critical injuries in an attack on the office of tehsil Bara in Khyber district.
The suicide attack on the law enforcers occurred when police were checking people enter in gthe tehsil compound.
KP Inspector General Akhtar Hayat confirmed that the attack was led by two terrorists who tried to enter the compound, which houses a cell of the counter-terrorism Department (CTD), Bara Police Station, and government offices. The martyrs include Bahadur Sher and Tayyab, who valiantly faced the harrowing attack on Tehsil Compound.
