PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a notice to Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan for taking part in electioneering for Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) candidate in Mathara tehsil local body by-election Iftikhar Ahmad. The body has warned that disciplinary action would be taken against the Senator if he takes part in the election campaign for the candidate next time. The notice was issued by the district monitoring officer Shoaib Khan on a complaint filed by a voter of the tehsil, where the ECP has announced by-polls on a vacant seat of local government. The election watchdog has instructed JI leader Mushtaq Ahmad Khan not to violate the code of conduct and abstain from holding public meetings. Public meetings, processions or car rallies are not allowed for local government elections in connection with election campaigns, only corner meetings are allowed, said the notice. It is pertinent to mention here that ECP has announced August 6 as date for polling for the slot of chairman in Mathra tehsil. DLP Report
