Police in merged districts resumed their special duties after assurance of Inspector General Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) to resolve their problems on priority basis. It is worth mentioning here that last week on the call of leaders of the police committee from the ex-tribal region, police officials refused in protest to provide security to the polio teams that caused suspension of anti-polio campaign in Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur and other tribal areas.
On Thursday evening a representative committee of merged district police led by its head Said Jalal called on IGP, KP Akhtar Hayat Khan and apprised him of their problems being faced by them. The police chief assured them that after merging into KP, the former tribal region police deserved all facilities being enjoyed by police in other parts of the province and a proper service structure and promotion system would be formulated in near future that would be notified soon.
Chief of merged districts police committee, Said Jalal said that they had a fruitful meeting with IGP, KP who pledged them to resolve all of their miseries therefore they suspended their boycott and would join their duties.
After abolishing of Frontier Crime Regulation and merging of ex-tribal areas into KP, approximately twenty seven thousand Khasadar and Levies forces had been merged in the police department.
