ISLAMABAD: A court in Islamabad on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez’s wife, Somia Asim, main suspect in maid Rizwana torture case, who was in Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand, by another 14 days. Somia was not produced in the court today. Earlier, her bail application had also been rejected by Judge Shaista Kundi. On the other hand, Somia’s lawyers have not filed another bail application in the court. The incident of violence against 14-year-old maid Rizwana took place at a house of civil judge in Islamabad. The case was registered at Hamak police station. Rizwana was allegedly tortured by the wife of the judge. Later, the medical board revealed that the maid was poisoned. The board said the victim of domestic violence was diagnosed with sepsis. On July 27, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted protective bail to Somia, involved in violence against the domestic worker, until August 1. DNA
