On the eve of local bodies by- election in two village councils (VC) in Landi Kotal and Bara to scheduled on August 27,2023, the district administration has imposed section 144 in the two councils for two days aimed to retain law and order in the area.
Section 144 will be enforced in Dilkhad(Charbagh) VC of Landi Kotal and VC Meri Khel(07) of Bara and it will be effective for two days i.e. August 26 and 27.
A notification issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Khyber stated that pillion riding, aerial firing; display of weapons will be completely banned in the two VCs.
Entry of unconcerned persons in the polling station beside jubilation and fireworks of a candidate after winning will be restricted, it stated.
The notification further read that the District Police Officer(DPO) and Assistant Commissioners of Landi Kotal and Bara had been directed to appropriate action to ensure implementation of the law.
It is worth mentioning here that the district election commissioner has finalized preparation to conduct by-election in the two VCs in Khyber.
Meanwhile DPO, Khyber Saleem Abbas Kulachvi visited two CVs of Landi Kotal and Bara where By-election will be conducted and examined security measures to be provided in polling stations.
He directed local police officials to adopt all necessary initiatives to make sure peaceful election as per Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) chalked out by the district election commission.
