Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah re-emphasized that political stability is essential for overcoming the economic crisis.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Shah expressed serious concern over the current state of the national economy.
He said dollar strengthening against Pakistani rupee has caused increasing inflation in the country.
Talking about the sending of inflated power bills, the party chief said it is highly difficult for inflation-stricken people to pay utility bills with high tariffs.
Asking the caretaker government to provide relief to the people in the face of skyrocketing inflation, the ATP leader maintained that rising prices of the daily use items had squeezed the purchasing power of the commoners.
He said that rising US dollar rate, the unprecedented increase in POL and electricity prices had made life a living hell not only for the have-nots but also for the ones doing white-collar jobs.
“The people are also facing the brunt of prolonged power cuts in the hot and humid summer days,” he remarked.
Faiq went on to say that the country was going to face a serious constitutional and legal crisis.
He asked to stop using anti-graft institutions against political opponents.
The ATP chairman called upon all political parties to be united and pave the way for conducting timely elections in the country.
He said the economic hardships had started dominating the political problems.
Shah was of the view that the onus to hold a free and fair election was on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
He stressed that the delimitation process should be carried out in a manner to ensure the holding of the free and fair election.
The party chief expressed serious concerns about deteriorating law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and rest parts of the country.
He asked the government to take corrective steps as soon as possible or else the situation could spin out of control.
