Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan on Tuesday expanded his interim cabinet with the induction of two ministers, the movie coming just weeks after forming its second interim cabinet in the province.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed ministers took place at Governor House Peshawar. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan, Minister for Information Ferooz Shah Kaka Khel and other members of the cabinet attended the ceremony. The two new ministers of the provincial cabinet are Engineer Amir Nadeem Durrani and Engineer Ahmed Jan.
Following the new induction, the interim cabinet of the province now comprised 11 ministers, two advisors and a special assistant, a cabinet of 14 members.
The First interim cabinet of the province was appointed on January 26 this year.
However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) owing to political association of the cabinet members directed the KP caretaker CM Azam Khan to de-notify ministers, advisors, and special assistants.
Subsequently, on August 11, 14 ministers, 11 advisors, and special assistants resigned from the cabinet and paved the way for the second interim setup in the province.
The caretaker Mr Azam Khan notified its second interim cabinet on August 19 and after a few weeks he expanded it with the induction of two new ministers.
KP is being run by interim setup since January 2023, when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and deposed Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the dissolution of their governments in KP and Punjab to pave the way for the fresh polls.
As per details, the new interim cabinet members have been appointed on the basis of their expertise in the fields of education, science, management, engineering and administration.
Under the constitution, a caretaker government in the centre or province should be appointed to provide a neutral administration for holding the elections in a fair and transparent manner.
