Foreign currency smuggling to be controlled soon, says DG Nisar Ahmad

Director General ( DG) Federal Investigation Agency ( FIA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nisar Ahmad has said that raids against illegal dealers of foreign currencies has been launched and more than 44 shops have been sealed in the province.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, DG FIA informed that actions were taken against those dealers of foreign currencies dealers who are not affiliated with State Bank of Pakistan.
Nisar Ahmad said that efforts are underway to control the falling value of the Pakistani rupee.
He went on to say that most of the raids have been done in KP and the recovery has also improved, adding 36 raids have been conducted and 44 arrested while 36 FIRs registered during different operations.
“In this campaign, FIA has the support of all law and enforcement agencies and actions were taken on intelligence information,” he added and said that efforts are being made to further reduce the value of the dollar and controll the smuggling of dollars.
DG FIA maintained that the court has ordered that the shops in which there is any other business should not be sealed and Immigration authorities are working to prevent smuggling at the border.
Proposals have been sent to the government regarding tightening the laws, Nisar Ahmad said and added that all possible steps would be taken to eliminate the business of illegal currency business from KP.
