PESHAWAR: Under the special campaign of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, crackdown against adulteration mafia continues in Peshawar, said a spokesman of the food authority department here on Wednesday. On receiving a secret information, food safety teams suddenly raised various factories on Pundu Road Peshawar. The raided team seized more than 5000 liters of mislabeled and non-standard cooking oil from a factory, Food Authority spokesman said. He said substandard virgin oil was being filled in tins to be supplied to city markets and the factory owners had booked under Food Safety Act. He said adulteration mafia would be allowed and should stop playing with the health of citizens, Director General Halal Food Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan was quoted as saying. Director General Halal Food Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan said directives have been issued to the food authority officials to continue their raids in order to stop that practice and should book those involved in this practice under Food Safety Act.
