Meeting takes decisions for implementation of NAP

A meeting regarding the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) held here on Thursday with Commissioner Peshawar Division, Mohammad Zubair in the chair.
The participants of the meeting agreed on joint and coordinated efforts of district administration, police and Pakistan Army for the elimination of extortions, narcotics, illegal cell phone SIMs and prevention of hundi-hawala business.
Those who attended the meeting were included Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all five districts of the division, District Police Officers (DPOs), administrative officers of sensitive agencies, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and Pakistan Tele-Communication Authority (PTA) while Commander 102 Brigade and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) attended the meeting as special guests.
Talking to the participants of the meeting, Commissioner Peshawar Division, Mohammad Zubair directed for guaranteeing the implementation of decisions taken during a meeting of the provincial apex committee held on September 14, 2023 with the Caretaker CM KP Muhammad Azam Khan in the chair and all agencies were directed to give names of their focal persons within a period of 24 hours.
Necessary directives were also issued to all concerned authorities to prevent extortion as per National Action Plan. PTA was directed to ensure the prevention of the sale of the cell phone SIMs through illegal means while directives were also issued for monitoring of telephone calls received by traders and industries for payment of extortion and provision of a peaceful environment to the trading community.
The meeting also decided to take immediate steps for the eradication of narcotics especially from the education institutions and for this purpose proposals were sought from police and other agencies.
For the elimination of the illegal business of hundi-hawala, the representative of the State Bank of Pakistan was directed for simplification of the procedure of sending and receiving of cash amounts from inside and outside the country and immediate implementation of directives in this regard.
The DCs of all five districts of the division were directed to take immediate steps for the prevention of the illegal sale and purchase of weapons and illegal use of both legal and licensed weapons. Similarly, the DCs were also directed for formal verification of all concerned documents to prevent the circulation of fake documents and contacting of the concerned organizations for their immediate verification.
During the meeting, the Excise Department was directed to ensure the registration of unregistered auto-rickshaw s and motor-cycles as soon as possible and stern action against unregistered vehicles.
A whatsapp group was also formed for making mutual coordination among the agencies more effective and strong.
The Commissioner Peshawar, Mohammad Zubair directed all agencies to dispatch the names of their focal persons within 24 hours and also convened next weekly meeting on coming Saturday.
