Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking pragmatic steps to restore a durable peace in tribal district Kurram.
An official statement issued here on Wednesday stated that government and law enforcement agencies have taken concrete steps and formed several Jirgas to defuse tension among the warring groups of the district.
“Jirgas comprising local elders, government and law enforcement officials were formed for brokering peace agreements among those fighting each other for many days,” the statement read.
It claimed that due to ongoing efforts the provincial government situation in the area has improved and the government is trying its best to restore normal life by opening all the closed roads for the next one or two days to ensure delivery of food, medicine and other essential items.
The government has constituted a special land commission on the district Kurram land dispute and all necessary steps in this connection have been given final touch.
Tribal elders on both sides including the Kohat Jirga have played an exemplary role in maintaining peace and order in the region.
The evil elements want the situation of Karma to remain bad but they will not be able to succeed and the situation will improve.
The statement also confirmed 25 casualties in the tension among the different local groups. However, it said that both sides have also agreed to vacate the bunkers in a phased manner.
The government is trying hard to bring the life of the common man back to normal, it added.
