LHC adjourns hearing of appeal pleas of convicted persons

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned hearing of appeal pleas by the accused persons against the sentences in Motorway rape case without proceedings. The appeal pleas filed by the convicts Abid Malhi and Shafqat Bagga against their death sentence came up for hearing before LHC in motorway rape case. The appeal pleas were heard by justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Ali Zia Bajwa Tuesday. The prosecution sought time to give arguments. LHC accepted it. The court adjourned the hearing of the case for 10 days. It is pertinent to mention here Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had awarded death sentence to Abid Malhi and Shafqat Bagga in March 2021. Both of them had filed appeal pleas in high court against the decision of trial court. Online
