Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests and fellow citizens,
I’m Hani Maryam Bhutta, daughter of Dr. M. Abubakar Bhutta and granddaughter of late Iftikhar Ahmed Bhutta. On behalf of Pakistani children, especially on behalf of Bhutta family, I welcome you all here on this momentous occasion of World Arabic Day.
Before proceeding, I would like to inform you about my late grandfather, Iftikhar Ahmed Bhutta who has served significantly in the field of Arabic language for Pakistani society especially for students of school and college level through curriculum wing of federal ministry of education Islamabad. He was not only an exceptional educationalist with great wisdom but had also learnt Tarjuma tul Quran by heart. He didn’t keep the knowledge to himself but taught it to all of his children and a few of his grandchildren before his death.
May Allah subahna hu watala Bless his soul.
Respected Arab guests, We love and respect you all, because our prophet PBUH said: “Love the arabs for three reasons, because I am an Arab, The Quran is in Arabic and the language of the people of paradise is Arabic”
Honorable Professors of Pakistan, We love you too and we deeply appreciate all the efforts you’ve been putting in the field of education.
Moving further, It is an absolute honour to stand before you today on this significant occasion of Arabic Word Day. This day is not just a celebration of cultural diversity but a testament to the rich tapestry of history, language, and tradition that binds together the nations of the Arab word.
It’s a day of celebration of the enduring legacy that has been woven over centuries, a legacy that encompasses the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Hazrat Umer bin al khattab narrated that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once said:
تَعَلَّمُوا الْعَرَبِيَّةَ؛ فَإِنَّهَا تُثَبِّتُ الْعَقْلَ، وَتَزِيدُ فِي الْمُرُوءَة
Translation:
“Learn Arabic for it strengthens the mind and enhances chivalry” [Al-Baihaqi, Shu’ab Al-Eman [branches of faith]

Arabic, a language of eloquence and depth, is not just a means of communication; it is a vessel that has conveyed the divine messages of all the prophets throughout history.
The Quran, a timeless and universal guide, is a testament to the beauty and profundity of the Arabic language. Its verses, filled with wisdom and guidance, transcend the barriers of time and culture, speaking to the hearts of believers in every corner of the world. Allah almighy explains the imporatance of arabic language in Quran as,
إِنَّا أَنْـزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُون
Translation:
“We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an so you people
may understand / use reason” (12:2)
Arab Word Day is also an opportunity to reflect on the contributions of the Arab word to humanity. From the Golden Age of Islam, when Arab scholars made groundbreaking advances in fields such as astronomy, medicine, and mathematics, to the preservation and dissemination of classical knowledge during the Middle Ages, the Arab word has played a crucial role in shaping the course of human civilization.
As we honour the achievements of the past, we must also look to the future. The Arab word is a region of resilience and innovation. Today’s challenges, whether social, economic, or political, are met with the same spirit that has guided this region through millennia. It is a spirit rooted in a deep appreciation for education, creativity, and a sense of community.
As we celebrate Arab Word Day, let us reflect on the role of Arabic as a unifying force, binding together diverse communities through the shared heritage of prophetic teachings and the Quran. The Quran itself acknowledges the linguistic miracle of its verses, challenging humanity to produce anything like it if they can. This challenge stands as a testament to the unparalleled beauty and linguistic excellence of the Arabic language.
Let us use this occasion to foster a deeper understanding of the Arabic language and its profound connection to the spiritual heritage of humanity. As we celebrate this day, let us cherish the linguistic legacy that has been passed down through the ages, honoring the language of the prophets and the divine wisdom encapsulated in the Quran.
In conclusion, let Arab Word Day be a reminder of the enduring legacy of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and the values he championed. As we celebrate our shared history and cultural diversity, let us embrace the teachings of tolerance, unity, and compassion, ensuring that the Arab word continues to be a beacon of inspiration for the world at large.
Thank You!
