The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has halted the inquiries against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family in five corruption cases including the Sharif Trust case, Express News reported. The decision was taken during a meeting of the country’s top graft watchdog on January 1. Inquiries into Punjab Safe City Authority, Social Action Programme, Park Enclave and other cases have also been stopped. The approval for the investigation into the Sharif Trust case was granted on March 31, 2000.
The case alleged that the Sharif family had created anonymous properties in the name of the trust, utilised funds from the trust accounts without proper auditing, and engaged in financial misconduct.
