Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Landi Kotal vowed that an effective price checking mechanism will be adopted to provide relief to the believers in the month of Ramadan.
Addressing on the “Meet the Press” program initiated for controlling prices of edibles on arrival of Ramdan,held in Landi Kotal press club district Khyber on Thursday AAC Rameez Ali Shah said that on the arrival of the holy month, price committees will be formulated on district and tehsil levels to check prices of essential commodities.
It will be compulsory on the local shopkeepers to follow a list of the prices of edibles and daily usage goods, publicised by the district administration and those found violating it will be dealt with as per law, he remarked.
The tehsil administrator urged the local traders to avoid charging extra- rates in the month of Ramadan.
He also assured that crackdown would be initiated against encroachers to clean various streets of the Landi Kotal bazaar for the convenience of pedestrians.
Earlier, neighborhood chairman Haji Sher attracted attention of the participants to the problem being faced by the people on eve of the Fasting while former President of Anjuman-e-Tajran,Landi Kotal also spoke on the occasion.
Sellers of poultry, beef, bakery, vegetables and sellers of other food items retailers vowed that they would grant maximum relief to the believers and would decrease the margin of their profits for the best interest of the masses.
