The speakers at a two-day training workshop highlighted the need for right to information action 2013 and stressed the need for joint efforts to raise awareness about effective use of this act.
The two-day training workshop title “RTI for Investigative Reporting, Countering Fake News & Gender Inclusive Reporting.” was organized jointly by the Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) and Individualland Pakistan.
Aziz Ahmad, Provincial Coordinator of a Project, “Citizens for Good Governance” gave a detailed briefing about the two-day training workshop. Trainer Saiful Islam Saifi and Pir Wilayat Shah and Noor Alam highlighted the need for the RTI act.
They added that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Act, 2013 was enacted to improve governance, reduce corruption and to hold Government.

The purpose of the Act is that all the citizens shall have the right to information to participate meaningfully in a democratic setup and further improve their involvement and contribution in public affairs.
The speakers also gave a detailed briefing on investigation reporting and highlighted the need to control and encounter fake news and demanded the government to make strict legislation to counter the fake news because fake news is a serious threat to the country’s solidarity.
