Media persons demand protection for a local journalist

Local journalists of Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber demanded of the concerned authorities to provide security to their colleague journalist and his family, who has been receiving threats from unknown militants.
In an emergency meeting, held in Landi Kotal press club, district Khyber under the head of the President Ahmad Nabi Shinwari last day and attended by number of media persons categorically condemned the life threats, being given to senior journalist Wali Khan and to his family and declared it ban on free and fair journalism.
They added that Wali Khan Shinwari is one of professional and competent journalst, never engage in bias reporting and always become a strong voice for the voiceless.
As many as 16 tribal journalists have lost their lives in the line of duty in addition with majority of them have received threats from different quarter of society that is equalvent to bar them of their professional duty, they added.
The tribal journalists have never compromised on fair journalism and always act as front line fighters to report problems and miseries of the tribesmen, they opined.
They went on that complaints have been lodged with concerned authorities for journalist protest but to in avail.
They demanded the government to provide security to the local media person, Wali Khan and his family so that he can execute his duty efficiently.
