Secretary Health & Advisor to Health Minister visit MTI KTH

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Health Dr Farooq Jamil accompanied by Advisor to Health minister Dr Jawad Wasif visited Medical Teaching Institute(MTI), Khyber Teaching Hospital(KTH) on Wednesday.
He was briefed by Hospital Director Dr Nekdad Khan & Medical Director Prof Dr Rooh-ul-Muqim regarding various issues of the hospital which were faced by the institution and especially about the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit’s financial constraints.
Dr Farooq assured the hospital management that he had convened a series of meetings with finance department and other stakeholders regarding the issuance of funds to MTI KTH A&E building for equipments as all the codal formalities for purchase of equipments were completed by the institution.
Advisor to Health Minister Dr Jawad Wasif said that health department is in close contact with finance department and the federal government for a quick release of grant in aid for all MTIs. He also said that the present government was trying its level best to provide standard healthcare services to general public at their door steps.
Secretary Health and Advisor to Health minister visited state-of-the-art 326 bedded newly constructed 9 floors building of A&E Block and discussed various issues which were faced by the institution. They were pleased to see the services being provided by the institution in the new A&E unit within the available resources. “There are six specialties available in new A&E 24/7 which is a great help for general public”, they said. During the visit secretary health issued directives to construct the incomplete and leftover boundary wall of the old A&E Unit on emergency basis to stop the trespassing of unnecessary traffic and general public which is a threat for security of the hospital and compliance report should be submitted to his office.
Dr Farooq along with Dr Jawad visited the on-going renovation of the hospital and also issued directives to maintain the standards of the construction and complete it within due course of time for the best interest of the patient’s care as well as the institution.
It merits to mention here that as per court order, Secretary health is assigned to exercise the power of chairman of MTI KTH Board of Governors (BOGs). On the request of the hospital management, a meeting will be convened in next week with secretary health in the chair for the approval of various issues as the power of BO G is assigned to the secretary health.
