KOHAT: On the eve of THE World Population Day, the District Population Welfare Office Kohat on Thursday arranged a day-long sensitization seminar for the heads of the government departments in a local guest house here. The participants on this occasion presented various useful suggestions for the successful family planning programs. District Population Welfare Officer Kohat Malik Taj while highlighting the aims and objectives of the seminar said that family planning is the need of the hour for establishment of a developed and progressive Pakistan. He added that Pakistan’s population rate is much higher than other neighboring countries, which is alarming. The rapidly growing population of Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will have negative impacts on the socio-economic conditions in the future. Therefore, it is high time to adopt Islamic teachings and family planning methods to control the rapidly growing population, Malik Taj said adding that the participants of the seminar belong to an important section of the society, therefore, they can play a very important role in the government’s initiatives for family planning. The population officer said that effective family planning can reduce problems of the country manifold. If the unplanned population continues, the next generation will have to pay a huge price for it, he concluded.
