KP agriculture minister pays surprise visit to research institute Tarnab

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture Major Retired Sajjad Barkwal paid a surprise visit to Agriculture Research Institute Tarnab Peshawar and inspected its various sections,said an official handout.
On this occasion, Major (R) Sajjad Brakwal Instructed the concerned authorities to take solid steps to increase the quality of crops, vegetables and fruits under modern agricultural tools and methods.
Director General Agriculture research Dr Abdur Rauf and Senior Director Agriculture research institute Tarnab gave a detailed briefing to the provincial minister regarding the activities and affairs of various departments.
Expressing keen interest in research matters, The Provincial Minister for Agriculture directed the scientists to introduce quality Seeds of crops within the province and produce high-quality varieties of vegetables and fruits, especially Orange and Peanuts, to meet the nutritional needs and to take measures to improve and increase production, introduce modern scientific methods for the same so that the production per acre of agricultural land could be increased significantly and farmers improve their financial conditions. At the same time, they can play an important role in stabilizing the economy of the province.
During the visit, the provincial minister visited various laboratories of the institute, especially the quality laboratory of honey, experimental plots, pesticides and tissue culture lab. He gave suggestions and instructions for promotion of Orange production in suitable areas during the inspection of the horticulture section. Briefing was also given on the preparation of virus-free potato seeds.
Provincial Minister for Agriculture in the meeting held regarding the improvement of agricultural research, while describing the role of agricultural scientists as important to ensure food and nutrition security. He directed them to improve the agricultural sector with integrity for the benefit of the farming community.
Provincial minister Sajjad Brakwal emphasized that negligence in administrative matters, poor cleanliness, absenteeism and non-availability of staff will not be tolerated at any cost and the employees who are working outside the institution should be recalled immediately. He also instructed to ensure punctuality and timely attendance of the subordinate staff and indicated to visit the institute again next week and said that wherever there are deficiencies, they should be filled otherwise strict action will be taken against the concerned officials.
