LANDIKOTAL: Residents and social activists staged a protest demonstration in Landikotal Bazaar on Saturday to record their protest against the closure of Pak-Afghan highway at Bagyarri checkpost in Jamrud that irked life in Landikotal.
The protest organized by the Qaumi Masail committee also participated by traders, transporters, customs clearance agents and other community members from Landikotal. They raised voice over the price hikes,unavailability of food items and closure of schools due to the closure of road.
Speakers including Malik Zahid Shinwari,Kaleemullah Shinwari,custom association chairman and sports legend Mirajuddin Shinwari, strongly condemned Malik Naseer Ahmad Kokikhel for his immoral and harsh words he used against journalist Qazi Fazlullah during his address at Kokikhel tribe sit-in the other day. They demand Malik Naseer Ahmad Kokikhel to forthwith apology Qazi Fazlullah.
The speakers also demanded reopening of Pak-Afghan highway Immediately and asked the government to take practical measures to rehabilitate the displaced Rajgal resident to return to their native land in Tirah.
The speakers highlighted the severe difficulties faced by traders, residents and transporters due to the highway closure. They urged the government to resolve the issues related to the Jamarud Bagyarri checkpost and address the grievances of the Kokikhel tribesmen.
They warned that failure to address these concerns would lead to a continuous and indefinite protest from all communities in Landikotal.
