SC orders key posts of universities be not kept vacant

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered important posts of vice chancellors of universities, president, vice president, registrars, faculty heads, controller examination and director finance be not kept vacant. The court has sought explanation within 14 days from the universities which are not implementing their rules. The SC has issued written order of its July 11 proceedings on the matter of appointment of permanent vice chancellors in the universities. The order said Additional Attorney General (AAG) told 12 universities fall under the jurisdiction of ministry of education. Important posts of vice chancellors, president, vice presidents, registrar, faculty heads, controller examination and director finance be not kept vacant. According to order money of people of Pakistan is spent in state run universities. Unfortunately several universities are violating rules. The universities are losing their standard by doing so. Through the order explanation has been sought from the universities within 14 days which are not implementing their rules. The order said as to why the action be not taken against the universities involved in not implementing their rules. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa heard the case. Online
