Aman Jirga to provide assistance to KP’s transgender persons

The Provincial Aman (Peace) Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Transgender Association have signed an agreement to address the problems faced by transgender persons in the province.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Aman Jirga Chief Syed Kamal Shah Bacha revealed that the agreement aimed at providing assistance in investigating the murders of 140 transgender persons, offer free legal aid, and ensure their protection.
“The agreement also includes measures to prevent drug use and sale around transgender residences, establish a code of conduct, and provide security measures with the help of Aman Jirga, including CCTV camera installation,” he said.
Syed Kamal Shah Bacha and General Secretary Arshad Manan announced that the agreement addresses various issues, including daily attacks and safety concerns.
The agreement also includes a ban on programs in open places, skill development programs, health card issuance, and rehabilitation programs for drug addicts.
A core committee will be formed to find solutions to transgender issues, and the Provincial Peace Jirga will work with the administration to address their problems.
Shah assured that work on these facilities will commence soon, and the core committee will collaborate with police and stakeholders to resolve transgender persons issues.
