PESHAWAR
The 2nd Spassky Chess Club Rapid Tournament was successfully held on the 8th of September at Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chess Association.
The event attracted the province’s top chess talents, showcasing the growing interest and skill level in the region.
Jamal Nasir emerged victorious, securing 1st place, while Aimal Safi claimed the 2nd spot. Saleel Ahmed, the current KP Chess Champion, took 3rd place in this highly competitive tournament.
The tournament was graced by esteemed guests, including Omer Khan, General Secretary of the Chess Federation of Pakistan and President of the KP Chess Association, alongside Professor Rashid Mehmood, Head of Physiology and Head of Sports at Rehman Medical College.
The award ceremony saw the distribution of trophies, cash prizes, and medals, recognizing the players’ dedication and achievements.
With 80 participants, this tournament became the largest chess event in KP’s history, setting a new benchmark for future competitions and elevating the province’s chess scene to new heights.
