Thousands of people from different walks of life in tehsil Bara of district participated in a peace march on Sunday against what they said was the failure of the incumbent government to control unrest.
The rally was organized under the auspices of Bara Sayasi Ittehad(Bara Political Union) and was initiated at Khyber Chawk, Bara and hundreds of thousands tribesmen travelled from the entire district to participate in it.
Local leaders from the mainstream political parties including Jamat-e-Islami(JI), Awami National Party(ANP),Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam-Fazalrehman(JUI-F),Awami Inqilabi League, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) besides representatives of traders and lawyers unions present at the demonstration. The Participants were holding white flags demanding restoration of durable peace in their areas.
Addressing on the occasion speakers including Hamidullah Jan(JUI-F),Member National Assembly Iqbal Afridi,Abdurraziq(ANP),Member Provincial Assembly Sohail Afridi(PTI)Khan Wali Afridi(JI)Advocate Farhad(Khyber Bar Association),Attaullah Afridi of Awami Inqilabi League,Imran Lala,Aftab Shinwari and others said that since last year including merged districts people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been protesting against the troublemakers and demanding of the security agencies to ensure peace in the province but to in avail.
They added that the government institutions had completely failed in controlling unrest that caused loss of life besides loss of properties of laymen.
We endure no more unrest especially in Bara and rest of areas of Khyber and will react strongly to foil mal-designs of those involved in it, they remarked.
They expressed their concern that deliberate efforts were made to disturb the peaceful environment of Khyber but ironically the government had turned blind eyes towards it.
The tribesmen had not recovered from the sufferings of the last two decade, war of terror so far that another curse was imposed on them in form of Azm-e-Istehkam forces operation that was unfair to them, they opined.
The speakers declared Action and Aid of Civil Power Act, a draconian and root cause of all social disease and unlawlessness in the merged district and demanded forthwith abolishment of it.
They urged the law enforcing agencies to accept citizens of the country, honor all human rights of tribal ensured by the Constitution of the country and stop genocide of the tribesmen in the name fake military operations.
No one will be allowed to disturb peace in Khyber and peace rallies and demonstrations will continue to restore durable peace in Khyber, the participants vowed.
