The central president of Awami National Party (ANP) Amil Wali Khan on Saturday demanded a joint session of parliament on “deteriorating security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, stating that half of the province is under terrorist control.
In a statement from the Bacha Khan Markaz, Aimal Khan emphasized the need for a joint meeting of Parliament and stakeholders to address the ongoing unrest in the province.
He criticized the provincial government and security agencies for their inability to control the situation, particularly in southern districts like Dera Ismail Khan, which become no-go areas at night.
“The government must disclose the reasons behind the increase in terrorism and inform the nation about its action plan to address the issue,” Khan demanded.
The ANP leader expressed concern over the government’s priorities, citing the provincial government’s focus on freeing prisoners while the federal government prioritizes keeping them in custody. “This tyranny is resulting in the bloodshed of Pakhtuns,” he said.
Khan reaffirmed the ANP’s commitment to opposing terrorism and protecting the rights of the people.
“We will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of our province and its inhabitants.”
He said the resurgence of terrorism in KP has raised concerns nationwide.
