3 militants killed in encounter with police guarding polio team

In a fierce encounter in tribal district Orakzai, three terrorists were killed by policemen guarding a polio vaccination team.
According to local police, one cop, Abdul Hameed, was martyred in the line of duty. Despite being injured, his colleague Zamil Shah bravely fought off the attackers alone before reinforcements arrived.
The incident occurred during the polio campaign in Badam Malakhel Upper Orkazai.
Officers Zamil Badshah and Abdul Hameed were vigilant in their duties when they engaged the terrorists.
After a fierce battle, they successfully eliminated two terrorists, while a third was seriously injured and later succumbed to his wounds.
The slain terrorists were identified as local commander Yahya, son of Syed Lal Khan, Noor Sadiq, son of Latif Khan, and Umar Khalid.
Following the encounter, police and Frontier Corps launched a search operation in the area to locate any remaining militants.
Funeral prayers for the fallen officer were held with full honors at Kalaya Police Lines, attended by the District Police Officer, civil authorities, and local residents. The martyrs’ coffins were draped in the national flag and adorned with flowers.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan commended the officers’ bravery in the face of danger, emphasizing that the sacrifices made for national security should not go unnoticed.
He assured that the terrorists would be pursued relentlessly and announced that all benefits under the Martyr’s Package would be provided to the officers involved in the encounter.
