An important meeting regarding the Interest-Free Ehsaas Debt Program Scheme held here on Wednesday with Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance and Financial Affairs Muzamil Aslam in the chair.
Besides, senior officials, KP Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Technical Education and Vocational Training Tufail Anjum, and Zakat Secretary Nazar Hussain Shah.
The meeting highlighted the main features of the program, which aims to provide interest-free loans for up to five years, targeting small business ventures and home construction.
Muzamil Aslam noted that the scheme is poised to foster new business opportunities and emphasized that job creation is crucial for poverty eradication.
The Ehsaas program, supported by the Akhuwat organization, is set to launch its first phase with an initial allocation of one billion rupees.
Muzamil Aslam mentioned that loans of up to Rs 500,000 would be provided in the first year. He directed all stakeholders to finalize their memorandum of understanding for the scheme by the end of the month.
“This interest-free initiative is a continuation of the loan program introduced in 2022 and aligns with the vision of Quaid Imran Khan to pursue a poverty reduction policy,” stated Muzamil Aslam. He described the Ehsaas Kardea Scheme as the premier initiative of its kind in Pakistan, reinforcing the province’s commitment to sustainable poverty alleviation and economic empowerment.
The meeting concluded with a call for expedited collaboration among all partners to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme.
